Steve Balaban is the Chief Investment Officer of Mink Capital, Chief Learning Officer of Mink Learning, and an award-winning Lecturer at the University of Waterloo. Additionally, he is also a Contributing Author to the CFA Program on subjects of Private Equity, Private Debt, as well as Alternative Investments overall.
Prior to this, Steve was the Chief Investment Officer of a Family Office in Canada, with a focus on private equity. He has a degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and a degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. Steve has worked, studied, and visited over 85 countries on every continent in the world.

Mink Learning offers videos, resources and in-person bootcamps and masterclasses to make the complex world of private equity simple. Steve has created new courses on private equity, wealth management and the international course. This course takes students to three different areas of the world each year. His unique approach to education uses innovative technologies and experiential teaching methods to explain concepts to his students. This passion for teaching resulted in being the only lecturer in the history of the University of Waterloo to win both the Distinguished Teaching Award and the WUSA Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award in the same year.
